Does the baby's heart rate slow when labor is near?

I went for a routine prenatal care appointment today, and during the heartbeat check my doctor said it's at 120, which is much slower than it used to be. I'm almost 37 weeks, and super uncomfortable! Lol. It would be great if I went into labor soon. Anyone have any personal experience with this?
